Its finally here! Sherwin-Williams 2021 color of the year! Drum roll…….! Urban Bronze SW7048!
This color is rooted in nature - forges a feeling that's grounded to create a calm space that we all are needing this year!
A couple of weeks ago I had the opportunity to be a part of Sherwin-Williams ColorMix Forecast Release. A “normal” year attending would be an anticipated event where interior design colleagues would gather for a presentation release and discuss our opinions about the forecasted color. We would snack on some finger food and walk around the hosting showroom sipping a glass of wine.
2020 however had a different ambiance, a web hosted virtual event. The excitement was still there but all snacks and sips were self-supplied and the follow up discussion was with Ella, my vizsla. Who provided little rebuttal to my opinion.
I must admit I am excited for the transfer of color tone! I personally lean towards a cooler color palette, but urban bronze lends just enough warmth and richness to be used in both warm and cool palettes!
Gold or polished silver. Marble or sandstone. Dark or light woods. This color is versatile; create an elegant setting or a relaxed space.
Gray continues strong for the foreseeable future; but urban bronze is a refreshing alternative that adds a calming natural feeling. I will be using this color in bedrooms, foyers, and offices. Mixing it with natural wood and stone and accenting it with silver and brass.
What do you think of Urban Bronze? Are you ready for a color change?
Erin Wallander, RID + NQIDQ I love interior design! My dog Ella and husband Chris. Yes, in that order. This blog is to share my personal opinion of design. I might get off track every now and then, but it keeps things interesting!
